Violet Evergarden is a show that is agin so well. Best thing I could do was drop it when it was on emission. was definitely not the right moment to watch it but 2 years after it was a beautiful experience.

Violet Evergarden's character is _way_ too misunderstood. She's basically a true-to-life veteran character trying to assimilate into normal society. The reason her personality is so robot-like in the beginning is because, for years, she lived in an environment where emotional responses can mean losing your life in an instant. Do you have any idea how hard it is to become "normal" after living like that? So many vets struggle with that transition, and Violet herself is no exception. But throughout the show, we see her grow into a person that is able to both understand her own emotions and express them (to a degree) because of her experiences as a Doll. Honestly though, I get why so many people don't understand her; they just can't even fathom what it's like, even when it's right in front of their faces. Check out "A Veterans Reaction to Violet Evergarden" by Animarchy to see exactly what I mean.

@Khaphung Jingdam if you've seen all of those then try watching Hinamatsuri(a roller coaster of emotion of an anime) or Boku Dake ga Inai Machi/Erased (I haven't seen this one but a lot of people recommended this to me). Hope this helps 😀
@Khaphung Jingdam Well the first on my list is Clannad/Clannad Afterstory. Then maybe Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai(i want to eat your pancreas) and Rascal does not dream of bunny girl senpai and its movie if you're into romance. Then Your lie in April, Made in Abyss, Assasination Classroom which must be on everybody's list of emotionally moving animes. Most of my recommendations have characters dying in them which broke me to tears. Just pick your poison 😀
Just had to pause this video 12 minutes in after gigguk was describing the charm of writing a letter and the importance of word choice when you have limited space. For someone who has his master's in engineering, you would think that he'd be more practical and logical. This guy strings together sentences beautifully, is intensely creative, and notices small things in story telling that most can't pick up on. That's not even the crazy part, it's the way he communicates it through his videos. I hope you guys appreciate the raw talent he has, and the quality of his videos. I've seen quite a few anime youtubers and none of them come even remotely close. Yes I know I'm coming off as a huge fan boy which I rarely do, but I just have to appreciate great quality work when I see it. If you're reading this Gigguk, please continue down the path of being a content creator - even if it isn't about anime. You are truly a gift.

I love how the clapping for overlord's CG is literally a bunch of berserk's sword hitting sounds. Darn i love this guy.
I think with Darling in the Franxx, it feels like the entire time they were setting up a good season 2 but realized that it's not going to happen and scrapped the entire ending they were aiming for in Season 1 and combined it with season 2 in like.. 4 episode. The last 4 episodes could be an entire season on it's own.

This video was fantastic, it covered almost everything that made this year great in superb depth. Talk about dedication too, over a month of prep went into this. Hats off to you, Gigguk, this video is one hell of a way to start 2019
Even though he did say he was gonna cover as much as he could, he did miss out on the Record of Grancrest War which I thought was a supreme sleeper this year. Didn't entirely nor perfectly adapt the LN as it could've, but I thought the anime itself was done pretty damn well and gave us one of the best couples/natural romances this entire year. Plus the fight scenes were pretty cool. Sadly, I'm probably alone in this opinion. Again Gigguk might've missed it/watched it and not enjoyed it but I'm not sure. Happy New Year!

I'm waiting for the day he says something good about DitF. Like there are still the first 15 episodes which I thought were amazing. Yes the show did go downhill after that but those first 15 episodes, especially the 15th episode, were amazing.

Yeah, it's more than two years on already, but 2018 in my view has brought up a classic: Violet Evergarden. Fantastic animation, fantastic story, fantastic soundtrack, huge impact (although even now in 2021 the latter still has to be fully realised).
Heck, again in my view, this is the best anime to air in all of the 2010s (along with the best OST as well). Let's see what the 2020s has in store...

Looking back... I think 2018 may be one of the best year for anime of all time. It had bangers after bangers after bangers, and almost every season had a good ass anime to watch and im happy that i get to experience 2018 with anime

Seriously, this year was so packed with shows, plenty of them being stellar, that I probably watched more airing anime this year than in any previous ones. The one that stuck in my mind the most was A Place Further Than The Universe though, it had really well-written, relatable characters and evoked a sense of wonder, desire to travel and explore new places that I don't think any show before managed to do quite as well for me. The theme of making the most of one's youth really hit home with my own feelings and I couldn't get it out of my mind for the entirety of 2018

Very close. It really doesn’t have do the harem thing at all (thank god). One of the girls besides main chick Mai has feelings for the MC but he shuts her down and they end up just being good friends.
